MPDS for Swine Flu
Since pandemic influenza and swine flu started doing the rounds in the media, the ambulance services around the world have introduced new MPDS categories and codes to categorise the large volume of calls they are receiving relating to it.
34 SWINE FLU
- 34E1 – Swine flu with secondary man flu infection
- 34D1 – Coughing so much couldn’t finish cigarette
- 34C1 – Recent ingestion of pork product
- 34C2 – Recent intimate encounter with Miss Piggy
- 34B1 – Has developed passion for rolling in mud
- 34B2 – Can’t get appointment to see GP
- 34A1 – Cousins brother’s mum had swine flu
- 34A2 – Read about swine flu in newspaper
- 34A3 – Want to get swine flu to get time off work
- 34A4 – Went to Ekka and got it off a pig
- 34A5 – Amphibious swine flu (refer to 34C2 and Kermit)
